“Human Sun” marks the first collaboration between Low Sun & HUMANITIES, two Toronto-based bands who both possess an affinity for dynamic late 80’s underground rock, and an equal aptness for making loud, expressive music.
This split-release (for the Art of the Uncarved Block label) features two tracks from each band and will be out mid-July 2017 as a limited run release on cassette tape with handmade packaging, as well as a digital release.

“Drone War Data Nil” is a caustic love letter to a drone operator. In the track, groove-laden post-hardcore churns beneath phrases like “This is Popular Mechanics / So the working class can fly this.”

Inspired by recent events concerning water-poisoning in Flint, Michigan and the the Dakota Access Pipeline,“First Things Thirst” is about the human and environmental costs of water privatization. Lyrically, it spills over into becoming a love song, a collective cry of protest, despair and hope.

about

HUMANITIES Toronto, Ontario

Humanities combine musical ferocity with thoughtful lyrics resulting in angry, poetic dirges. The songs weave dissonant melodies with heavy hitting riffs, and lyrics that muse on the world itself in crisis.
